Comedy Club, like its name, is a nightclub that provides comedy shows. The performers are usually the so-called stand-up comedians. A single person with a simple microphone is good enough to shake loose the audience in laughter. The origin of stand-up comedy is said to be Mark Twain. Mark Twain was the best colloquial speaker and humorist in his time. Back in over 100 years ago, he loved to hang out in the bars by the Mississippi River and tell his interesting stories to the guests in the bars. This is the earliest form of a comedy club.
From masters like Bill Cosby, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Seinfeld to newer generation of Jim Carrey, Ben Stiller, and Chris Rock, many famous comedians started their career in local comedy clubs. This kind of performance was also brought to TV shows like Saturday Night Live or Late Show with David Letterman.
Today, live Comedy Club Taipei would like to bring the guests a wide variety of comic shows including stand-up, live act, skit, improv, singing and talking, and all hilarious materials.
